The new album from the Boston Hardcore/Punk band is an extremely impressive piece. The Unseen always seem to put 110% into all of their albums and their Hellcat Records debut seems absolutely no different. AMP magazine put's it perfectly as they write "The Album is one paint-peeling hardcore punk anthem after another." It starts with “On the other side”, which sounds like a lyrically driven overture. It leads directly into the track “Scream Out”. It’s a great to sing along to and has an incredible message. With lyrics such as:
Well all my life this music saved me I can't afford your therapy My frustration it needs release, Cut me open and hear me bleed Playing punk it keeps me sane I don't need drugs to numb the pain It keeps me alive, I hope it helps you I won't let your worthless America ruin me NO WAY!
The song “Weapons of Mass Deception” is amazingly fast in the right places and is sung with intensity and rage. But Then again, all of their songs are. They have also included a dark cover of the Rolling Stone's "Paint it black" They also have a song “We are all that we have” with back up Vocal’s by Rancid’s own Lars Frederickson. This song creates a great sense of Unity and is performed well. Don’t get me wrong, The Unseen seem like a bunch of tranquil guys, but once they’re on the stage, they’re really wild. I saw them at the B.B. King’s Club with Tiger Army and Lost City Angels and it was really intense. There was one point where Mark looked me in the eye and smiled because he saw I was totally into it. It was an awesome experience. It also helps to have Star Power backing you up.As if The Unseen weren't known for their hard work in the punk scene, but now they also Have the Dropkick Murphy' Bassist Ken Casey producing the album, Frederickson and Dicky Barrett from the Mighty Mighty Bosstones providing vocals on tracks and Epitaph's Owner and Bad Religion Guitarist Brett Gurewitz mixing the album. Good Tunes, good guys, great shows; The Unseen has it all. They have the house party presence of Operation Ivy, the attitude of The Clash and an intensity all their own. Go listen to The Unseen’s new album “Weapons of Mass Deception SOON!
